The Cooperative Research Units (CRU) Program provides federal agencies the opportunity to access fish and wildlife expertise available at 40 Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Units (Units) and cooperating faculty at host universities. Federal agencies issue intra and inter agency agreements to US Geological Survey (USGS) for specific projects and informational needs. The CRU Headquarters office and USGS Contracting then issue a Research Work Order to a Unit and its host university, to conduct the work specified for the agreed upon funding.

The Baum Lab

The Baum Lab
Research in the Baum lab focuses on the compatible interaction between cyst nematodes and their hosts with particular emphasis on the soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) and the sugar beet cyst nematode (H. schachtii). To a smaller extent, some projects are dealing with the root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp. This group of so-called sedentary endoparasitic phytonematodes represents the most damaging group of plant-parasitic nematode and is responsible for billions of annual losses.

Ag 450 Farm

Ag 450 Farm
The AgEdS450 Farm is the ONLY completely student managed farm at a land grant university in the United States. The AgEdS 450 Farm allows students to be involved in everyday management decisions and practices of a typical central Iowa farm. This is a capstone course for Agricultural Studies Majors.

The Rod & Connie French Conservation Education Camp was established through a donation by Rod and Connie French to Iowa State University. The facility is operated by Department of Natural Resource Ecology & Management as a space for hands-on field education in forestry, fisheries and wildlife.

The People in Ecosystems/Watershed Integration (PEWI) tool is a simple web-based educational game designed to assist people in multidimensional land-use decision making. PEWI is an open-source project that can be utilized in classrooms and by land-managers or resource professionals to explore how different land cover types and configurations result in trade-offs in ecosystem services.

July 1, 2002 marked the beginning of a new era in natural resource education, research, and extension at Iowa State University. The formation of the Natural Resource Ecology and Management Department through the merger of the Animal Ecology and Forestry Departments provided the means and facilities to continue the growth of our programs in forestry, fisheries, wildlife, and wood science; while providing the platform on which to build new programs. Historians often like to say that the past is the prologue for the future.

This release includes many bug fixes and improvements. Requiring Alt text is better enforced, beans are now included, and many accessibility improvements have been made. Updated suitcase_interim to 1.2.0. isushib now allows blocking users.
