Scheduling

How to schedule content for publishing

By default announcements (and the banners) are not published. Sometimes, it is desirable to schedule it to be published at a later time automatically.  For example, you may want to automatically publish an announcement detailing a new publication that has embargo restrictions that lift at midnight. With the scheduling feature, you can schedule the announcement to automatically get published after midnight.

The CK Editor

How to understand and use the CK Editor

CKEditor is the text editor that Luggage uses. It may be daunting for first-time users to try and figure out what each button does. This tutorial will lead new users through explanations of each button and their functions.

Horizontal Lines

How to utilize the horizontal line button

Step 1: Using the horizontal line button

Next, let's look at the button located next to the table button: the horizontal line button. If you need to separate your content, then you may want to use the horizontal line.

Headers

How to utilize the header dropdown

Sometimes, the content on your page has varying amounts of importance. If you have a title, for example, you want your users to be able to see it easily. While you could just bold the text, using headers is great for optimizing your webpage for search engines.

Step 1: Make text into a header

The header drop-down is found in between the link button and the text formatting removal button:

Format Removal

How to utilize the formal removal button

Sometimes, you need to remove all of your formatting. Maybe you accidentally made the entire page into a header. Or maybe you accidentally bolded random parts of your news story. Either way, the remove formatting button is a useful tool in the CK Editor arsenal.

Step 1: Removing previous formats

This is where the format removal button is located:

How to utilize the image properties button

The last useable button in the CK Editor toolbar is the image formatting button. If you click on an image and then click on the image formatting button, you will be able to alter the properties of that image. Before you get started here, you may want to read the detailed explanation of how to upload images on the Adding Images tutorial page.

Course Listings

Do you need to make a listing of the courses you are planning on offering? Our course content module allows for the addition of multiple course sections, course instructors, and course locations. This series of tutorials will lead you through the process of creating a course catalog for your Luggage site.

Before we get started, let's take a look at a finished course listing. Course listings are put into a table upon creation that allows the user to view the course identifier, title, year, and semester. Here is what our example course table looks like:

Course Locations

How to add a course location to any course

When creating a page for a course, the first thing that you should do is create the course location. Your course location will link the user to the course room's page on the Facilities Planning and Management website. You will see the course location in action when it is used to create a course section later on in this tutorial series.

Course Instructors

How to add an instructor to any course

The next course-related content that you will need to create is the course instructor page. The course instructor page allows you to provide a biography and a profile picture for the course instructor to help students learn about them. You will see the course location in action when it is used to create a course section later on in this tutorial series.

Course Sections

How to add a course section

We're almost done creating a course listing but there are still a few steps left. For this tutorial example, we're going to continue by creating a course section node. You'll be able to see how this module pulls information from all the different sources we've covered so far and brings them together into a cohesive resource.

Step 1: Creating a course section

Let's start by taking a look at all of the fields for our course section node:
